Killer Basic Granola
Recipe
There are almost no rules at all when it comes to making granola. Experiment with any combination of nuts, dried fruits, sweeteners and spices to create your own perfect blend.

Ingredients
Serves 5–6 cups
1/4 cup canola oil
1/2–3/4 cup honey, brown sugar, agave or maple syrup (sweeten to taste)
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 cups old fashioned rolled oats
2 cups nuts
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, ginger, or nutmeg (if desired)
1 cup dried fruit
3/4 cup other add-ins such as sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, flax seeds, coconut, spelt, quinoa, etc. (optional)
     
 
 
 
Directions 
 

Preheat oven to 325 °

1. In a small bowl whisk together the oil, sweetener and vanilla. In a medium bowl combine oats, nuts, spices and any other add-ins except for dried fruit.

2. Gently combine wet and dry mixtures making sure oats and nuts are evenly coated.

3. Spread the granola evenly on the prepared sheet and bake for 15 minutes. 

4. Remove from the oven and flip and stir the granola. Return to the oven and bake for about 10-15 minutes more, until golden brown.

5. Let cool completely on the baking sheet then add dried fruit. 

6. Store in an airtight container for up to a week. Do not refrigerate.

 

 

Preparation time: Approximately 35-40 minutes.
